During the quiet summer months, construction crews nearly completed several of the projects around campus.
Notre Dame’s Army and Air Force ROTC cadets, with midshipmen from the ND ROTC program and the United States Naval Academy, as well as Notre Dame International Security Center students, went on a two-week, experiential educational journey of leadership and history along the East Coast. The group explored key American Revolutionary War battlefields, bridging past and present to understand the timeless lessons of courage, strategy, and sacrifice. Photographer Michael Caterina joined them for their time in Washington, DC.
While scouting for another photo, photographer Michael Caterina was driving along Indiana 933 and stopped at the Brother Andre Drive intersection. Looking over to the east, he thought, “When did they add a deer statue to this corner?” Then, the deer moved. Caterina grabbed his camera to photograph the rare sight of a male deer, with summer velvet still on its antlers, not even 50 yards from the busy road just after 5:00 p.m.
Also, the squirrels are excited for all the students to return.
